Munich / San Francisco, USA, October 8, 2019 – Andreas Hofmann takes over as Head of the German Accelerator Silicon Valley Program. The entrepreneur and native Bavarian has lived and worked on the West Coast of the United States for 23 years, and has extensive experience in Consumer Electronics, Digital Health, Mobile Platforms, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. German Accelerator supports the most promising German startups on their course towards international expansion. At the innovation hubs of San Francisco, Silicon Valley, New York, Boston, and Singapore, our team of experienced experts and mentors actively accompanies the selected companies with local know-how as well as various workshops and training programs. German Accelerator offers two different programs in Silicon Valley and San Francisco: The first is the three-month main program, which is aimed at founders who already have a foothold in Germany with their startup and now want to open a U.S. branch. Additionally, the second program is a one-month program called ‘JumpStart’, which helps early-stage startups learn more about the U.S. market and Silicon Valley while testing their product idea or business model.
“I’m really looking forward to further developing our program, and making it even more attractive by working with the best German startups to raise our profile in Silicon Valley,” says Hofmann, who most recently served as Vice President of Partnerships & Sales at the A.I. startup Machinify. Between 2012 and 2017, he held various positions at Samsung. Previously, Hofmann co-founded the startup Kukun – a platform that helps homeowners and do-it-yourselfers plan and implement their projects. Andreas Hofmann holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Munich University of Applied Sciences.
Matthias Notz, Managing Director of German Entrepreneurship GmbH, which coordinates the various locations of German Accelerator from Munich, comments: “With Andreas, we have been able to win one of our long-standing mentors as our new CEO. As a founder and active entrepreneur, he is very well connected in Silicon Valley, offering our local startups the best possible support to position themselves quickly and sustainably in the new market. We have established a very successful program in Silicon Valley and are looking forward to taking it to the next level with Andreas’ ideas, enthusiasm, and network.”
